Real Growth

by Teneale Williams

A few years ago I came across a woman.
She would ring the doorbell and ask for money, leftover chicken skins, and anything else we were willing to get rid of. She would come regularly.

I would also run into her in different malls where she would ask for money and for food.

During my lunchtime a few weeks ago, I bumped into her. She asked me for some money and food again. This is roughly 7 years later.

As I was walking away, the Lord began to minister to me about transformation.

The Holy Spirit is dwelling within us, wanting to change the parts of ourselves that many don’t know about or that we struggle with. He is wanting to transform us completely into the image of Jesus Christ so that we may be presented as a living sacrifice. The key is: Willingness.

God can only truly transform us by His Spirit if we ALLOW Him to. If we want Him to. If we long for Him to do so.

It means that we have to be honest with our downfalls, our mistakes, the lies and deception we have come to believe that goes against the Word of God, unforgiveness we still hold in our hearts, memories that shift and shape how we think and feel, and the list can go on and on.

We have to come to the Lord as we are and lay those things before Him and allow our hearts and minds to be transformed.

Change begins in the heart. Once our hearts change towards something, our thoughts and then our actions will naturally begin to follow through. It’s always our hearts that God has been after.

Romans 12:2 TPT says: “Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you, but be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think. This will empower you to discern God’s will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in his eyes.”

The above is a promise that when we allow the complete transformation of our minds to take place, we will be empowered to discern more clearly what the Father’s perfect Will is for our daily lives.

May we allow the complete work of the Lord Jesus Christ to be done in us.

Be blessed.
