The Act of Surrender

by Anchored Guest Blogger

All of us have experienced or are currently going through a trial or a test in some form. Whether this is in your personal life, your workplace, your ministry, business or something important that you have been waiting for, you can feel that you’re “going through something”.

Whatever is in our hearts is what will come out during a trial or testing period.
When one is on trial in court, the facts of a case are presented to a judge or magistrate, and they decide if the person is guilty or not guilty of the charge offered. During the trial, the prosecutor uses witnesses and evidence to prove to the judge that the defendant is guilty. When one is writing a test, everything that you were supposed to have studied for the test will be asked. And you will either pass or fail based on your knowledge.

This is the very same with our hearts.
Are you happy with what is coming out of your heart when you are going through various trials?
Are you seeing things that aren’t in alignment with God’s Word or the new man that has been put on when you were saved many years ago?
Do you still find yourself reacting the same way and saying the same things?
Are you still severely triggered by past traumas?
Do you find yourself in mistrust with God when you’re going through a trial or test?
Do you find that your actions are in misalignment with your words?
Do you still have unforgiveness in your heart towards people who have hurt you in the past?

It’s so important for us to be real with Jesus Christ and allow Him to change us from the inside out.
Allow Him to do what David asked Him in Psalm 139:23-24:
“God, I invite your searching gaze into my heart. Examine me through and through; find out everything that may be hidden within me. Put me to the test and sift through all my anxious cares.

See if there is any path of pain I’m walking on, and lead me back to your glorious, everlasting way – the path that brings me back to you.”

Speak these words to the Lord… Ask the Holy Spirit to help you – He is a person and He is more than willing to assist you on your walk of salvation with Christ and your walk Home to be with the Father.
Surrendering means opening your heart to Abba Father, handing it over and trusting Him to take care of it. To surrender means:

I am reminded of Jesus’ words:
“Are you weary, carrying a heavy burden? Come to me. I will refresh your life, for I am your oasis. Simply join your life with mine. Learn my ways and you’ll discover that I’m gentle, humble, easy to please. You will find refreshment and rest in me. For all that I require of you will be pleasant and easy to bear.” Matthew 28:11-30 TPT

In the most difficult times, it is so important to release control and surrender to Jesus. It’s not easy, but it’s the most freeing and relieving feeling knowing that your problem is in the hands of your Saviour. He has done great things before, and He will do it again AND MORE! Surrender is not just a one time thing, but it is an essential act in each of our walks with the Lord. Surrendering to the Holy Spirit will become a part of you life the more you do it and it

will become easier and easier over time.
All it takes is a little more faith, a little more hope, and a little more trust. Be Blessed ❤
